The .TV domain extension is seeing increasing popularity as online video continues to draw attention and to drive clicks. Short abbreviations, acronyms and single word domain names are always preferable both when it comes to user recognition and value based on potential uses.
.TV metamorphosed on 19 March 2010, when dotTV (the company which operates the .TV extension), completely revised their pricing policy. Prior to the change, some of the superior domain names were deemed as premium and came with hefty price tags and equally hefty annual renewal fees. After that date, many of the premium domains were reduced to standard registration fee and those still deemed premium saw a huge price reduction. In some cases, domains which were priced at $30,000 PER YEAR, were reduced to a registration fee of a few hundred dollars and an annual renewal fee of around $30. This change was just what the .TV extension needed.
Please note that domains which were deemed premium and registered before 19 March 2010 are still burdened with premium annual renewal fees (sometimes in the thousands). Always check the date that a .TV was purchased on and do your due diligence if the seller purchased it before that date. All of our names were purchased after 19 March 2010 and renew at the standard renewal fee (around $30.00 per year).
